Wayfarer Bar Interior

Having heard that Fremont Street’s newest bar specializes in classic cocktails with a focus on bourbon and scotch, we absolutely had to visit. We like brown liquors here at FremontStreetBars.com.

After two unsuccessful visits finding Wayfarer Bar packed, we returned shortly after the 7 p.m. opening time and nabbed two seats at the bar. Our persistence paid off. We quickly found that Wayfarer had captured much of what we love about its sister bar, Downtown Cocktail Room (both are owned by Future Restaurant Group), in a smaller, more subdued package.

Both offer amazing cocktails, a warm design and great bartenders. Where DCR excels at complex, original cocktails, Wayfarer is all about classic cocktails. Seeking an amazing old fashioned? This is the right spot.

Our bartenders, Trey and Eddie, were friendly and knowledgable, even suggesting we try a Bobby Burns because, after all, it was his birthday that day. Who knew?

Open 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day except Sunday, Wayfarer is well on its way to being one of our  Fremont Street favorites, assuming we can get a seat. The bar is located on the first level of Inspire Theater.

Having tried most of the higher end bars downtown, this is our favorite. Got in right after 7 p.m. the night we went and were lucky to find the last two spots at the bar. Great bartenders, great service, great conversation, and most of all, great drinks. It’s lit better than Downtown Cocktail Room, which for our tastes, made for a little better ambiance. Go here.
