After a few announced shows that were moved because the club wasn’t quite ready, Fremont Country Club hoisted its sign yesterday and will open the doors for the first time on Feb. 5. Not yet officially announced, the first show will be part of a soft opening to identify and work out kinks before the formal opening in the next couple weeks.
Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses will be the first headliner to take the stage at 601 Fremont—next Backstage Bar and Billiards. Although the club holds 1,000, only 300 will be admitted for the Feb. 5 test run. Expect future bookings to lean heavily on indie rock acts (Lucero, Alkaline Trio).
Update: With the trial run a success, Fremont Country Club’s public grand opening is set for March 6.
