After nearly two years collecting dust, the legendary Atomic Liquors will reopen by the end of 2012. New owners plan to update the 60-year-old liquor store and bar with outdoor seating, a beer garden, a live music venue, larger restrooms and possibly a movie theater.

The reopening of Atomic Liquors is great news for anyone who has missed having a reason to take the always-sketchy walk east of El Cortez on Fremont since The Western closed.

To celebrate the eventual rebirth of Atomic, the new owners plan to turn the joint’s neon signs back on beginning this Friday.
